As at 2023, Dr. Babalola Abegunde has had over 21 years working experience as a Lecturer of repute, productive researcher, administrator and notable Teacher of Law at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti and 24years Post- call experience as a Legal Practitioner. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Hons of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (1997), Master of Laws (LL.M), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2001) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Degree of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (2015). 

He was admitted as a Solicitor and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in the year 1999. He is a member, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); member, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and member, Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT). He served as member, Ekiti State Law Review Committee between March 2004 to the year 2010. He became a Fellow of the United Nations Regional Course in International Law, 2014 and Member, European Centre for Research Training and Development, United Kingdom in 2014. He is equally a member, Notaries Public Society of Nigeria; a member of the Nigerian Society of International Law, (NSIL) and a member of the International Law Association (ILA).

Dr. Babalola Abegunde was employed as a Lecturer II in April 2002 at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti and was promoted as Reader/Associate Professor of Law on 1st October, 2018. He has served as Head of Department of Public Law, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU) between 2016 and 2017.

He has served as Level Coordinator of different Levels (2003-2013); Staff Adviser, Law Students Society, University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD). 2004-2005; Secretary, Faculty Examination Malpractice Investigation Panel, 2006; Legal Adviser to Student’s Union Government, University of Ado-Ekiti, 2006-2010; Secretary, Faculty Investigation Panel on Students without Matriculation Numbers, 2007; 500 Level (Final Year) Law Students’ Project Coordinator, 2009 -2016; Member, Faculty of Law Committee on Research, Seminar and Conferences, 2009-2016; Coordinator and member, Editorial Board, Ekiti State University Law Journal (EKSULJ), 2009- Date; Faculty of Law Representative in the Directorate of General Studies (GST), 2010-2013, etc.

He served as the Sub-Dean, Faculty of Law, 2013 – 2016 and he is a member, Postgraduate Committee, Faculty of Law, Ekiti State University (EKSU), 2015- Date; member of Senate, Ekiti State University, 2016-Date; Chairman, Faculty of Law Committee on Seminar Series, 2016- Date; member, Academic Brief Committee of Senate, EKSU, 2017; Head, Department of Public Law, and Coordinator Post Graduate Programmes in Law, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, (Sabbatical) between 2017-July 2018; Co-ordinator, Post Graduate Programmes in Law, EKSU, 1st August 2018 to 19th Aug 2019; Acting Dean, Faculty of Law,  EKSU 5th December 2019- 20th January, 2020 and Chairman, EKSU Legal Advisory Committee, 2022 till date and currently the Acting Dean of Law at Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.    His research interests are Public International Law, Law of Evidence and Jurisprudence and Legal Theory and they form a bulk of the research areas he has taught both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is the Author of Public International Law and a co-Author of many books and Book Chapters. He has successfully supervised many undergraduate students, eight (8) LL.M candidates and currently supervising three (3) Ph.D candidates.      

He has well over seventy (70) technical and academic papers published in reputable peer-reviewed national and international journals. He has attended and presented papers at local and international conferences/workshops. He has also served as editor to a couple of reputable journals.
